My First Day as a Model for Keranique Hair
-My First Day as a Model for Keranique Hair. I’ve worked as an actress for 25 years but I’ve never really worked as a model. Oh sure, I have gotten together with friends and cameras and played dress-up for years, it’s one of my favorite ways to keep creative in between gigs. I didn’t start booking professional modeling jobs until after I turned 50 and allowed my hair to go gray!
Yesterday, I got to work as a hair model for Keranique Hair. Specifically, the senior model… Gulp. Still getting used to that. I was lucky enough to get someone to shoot behind-the-scenes footage on my cell phone (The autofocus went too little crazy, sorry about that). You can definitely tell I’m a little uncomfortable right at the beginning of the shoot but eventually I found my rhythm! I’m accustomed, as an actor, to having a script in advance to memorize, rehearse, create – when I walk onto a movie set, I usually know what I am doing that day! Models are not hired for their brains and are told what they need to do on a “need to know” basis 😉
I had so much fun shooting this commercial! They gave me a ton of product to try out and I’m super excited about that because being on the starving artist budget I’ve been using… well… budget hair products so it’s going to be nice to have some fancy stuff to use on my noggin!
Keranique sent me their
shampoo, conditioner and treatment spray about a week before the commercial so that I could get my hair in better condition. I have to say I’m pretty impressed with it! My hair feels thick and it feels soft. I have baby fine hair and it feels noticeably thicker, and I’m super pleased about that. The shampoo has a teensy bit of a tingle to it and it took a minute to get used to! (But it’s very minor, nothing at all like the tingle I get from strong Tea Tree Oil shampoos.) Same with the conditioner. My hair is feeling soft but still has plenty of body which is huge when you have baby fine hair. I still like to hit my hair with one of the purple shampoos about every three washes just to keep that silver looking very… Silver. Check out Up Town Jungle.
Their Lift and Repair Spray definitely makes it feel thicker. It’s a styling spray as well as a treatment and I really like it when I blow dry my hair. I don’t care for it as much when I let my hair dry naturally because it makes it a bit stiff. But at this stage of my hair growing out, it seems to want me to blow it dry to have any sort of style. It doesn’t look at all good to let it dry naturally right now so I’m using the treatment almost daily and adding the mousse when I want even more oomph! Their shine spray really helps the silver sparkle. The overnight serum is awesome before going on a shoot to prepare it for the stress.
My film The Last House is now available on Amazon (and that link, just like all the links I have here for you, are connected to my account as an Amazon Affiliate so that I might make a small commission if you choose to place an order) Jurassic City has been out and continues to do well (it looks like that bump I got on my knee dodging that velociraptor is going to be a permanent memento!). I should have details on the release of Axeman 2: Overkill very soon – we think it’s going to be released in early May 2016 and of course, I will keep you posted!
